AI video editor: upload your footage, get a video ready to post

You've filmed it. Now the slow part begins: cutting dead air, removing every "um", timing captions word by word, finding music, adding zooms to keep attention up. With ManyMotion, you drop your video into the chat, say in one sentence what you want, and the AI video editor handles the rest: cuts, synced captions, punch-in zooms on your face, emojis, transitions, original music and sound effects. Then you fine-tune by chatting, like working with an editor who never sleeps.

Ready-to-use prompt ideas

Why ManyMotion

The cutting is done for you

Silences, hesitations, false starts and repeats disappear. Cuts land between two words, never in the middle of one.

Word-level captions

A word-by-word transcript, then "pop" TikTok-style captions, "karaoke" or "clean" captions, with keywords highlighted in color.

Pacing without the effort

Snappy or smooth zooms on your face, shakes on key moments, flashes, emojis and on-screen text to keep attention up.

Clean, lively sound

Your audio is normalized to social media loudness, original music ducks under your voice and sound effects punctuate every effect.

Changes in one sentence

"Remove this part", "yellow captions", "make it punchier": 5 credits per revision, without touching a timeline.

What an AI video editor actually does

Traditional editing software gives you tools: a timeline, a razor, an effects library. You make every cut yourself. An AI video editor flips that around: you give the intent, it makes the decisions, and you correct whatever you don't like.

When you upload a video to ManyMotion, the AI starts by analyzing it:

  • A word-by-word transcript, with the exact timestamp of every word. That's what makes clean cuts and synced captions possible. It works in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and many other languages.
  • Face detection, so zooms aim at your face and text, emojis and captions stay off your head.
  • Key frames, to understand what's happening on screen and decide where effects should go.

Then the AI editor builds the edit: it removes silences and hesitations, can move your best line to the start as a hook, and adds captions, zooms, transitions, music and sound effects. Everything is timed to your speech, not dropped in at random.

Manual editing vs AI editing: who does what

TaskManual editingWith ManyMotion
Cutting silences and "ums"Listen, spot, cut by handAutomatic, based on the transcript
CaptionsTranscribe, split, time every lineSynced word by word, style of your choice
Zooms and pattern interruptsKeyframes set one by onePlaced on key moments, aimed at your face
MusicFind a track, sort out licensing, duck it under the voiceComposed for your video, ducks under speech
Sound effectsSound library, manual syncingGenerated for the video, synced to every effect
Changing your mindReopen the project, redo itOne sentence in the chat

To be fair: a manual editor still wins on frame-by-frame control. If you want to decide every cut down to the millisecond, timeline software remains the right tool. Our ManyMotion vs CapCut comparison breaks down both approaches. AI editing is for people who want to post often without spending their evenings editing.

How to film for a better AI edit

AI can't work miracles with an unreadable image or distorted audio. A few habits while filming change the whole result:

  1. Get the sound right before the image. A lavalier mic, or a phone placed close to you in a quiet room. The transcript, and therefore the cuts and captions, depend on it.
  2. Give your face room in the frame. Leave space above your head and on the sides: zooms have margin and captions have somewhere to go.
  3. Don't be afraid to retake. Fluff a line, pause, start again. False starts and repeats are exactly what the AI removes.
  4. Shoot a few B-roll clips. Your product, your workspace, your screen: upload them with your main video (up to 5 videos per message) and the AI uses them as B-roll.
  5. Film in the final format. Vertical for TikTok and Reels, horizontal for YouTube. Reframing is possible, but you lose part of the image.

Writing an editing request that gets the right result

The AI edits well with no instructions at all. But one precise sentence saves you revisions. Give it these five things:

  • Platform and format: TikTok in 9:16, YouTube in 16:9, LinkedIn in 1:1.
  • Target length: "about 45 seconds", or "keep everything, just cut the silences".
  • Tone: "high-energy TikTok style", "calm and professional", "warm".
  • Caption style: pop, karaoke or clean, the color, the font (Montserrat, Poppins, Lilita One, Anton, Bebas Neue...).
  • What to keep or highlight: a number, a hook line, a part that must not be cut.

You can also add animated scenes to your edit: an intro, a final call to action, your logo. To go further, see how to remove silences, add auto captions or edit a talking-head video, and read our editing techniques for retention.

Frequently asked questions

What is AI video editing?

+

It's editing where artificial intelligence makes the decisions for you: it transcribes your video, cuts silences and hesitations, and adds captions, zooms, transitions, music and sound effects. You give the intent in one sentence, then refine it by chatting.

What videos can I upload?

+

MP4, MOV or WebM files, up to 30 minutes and 5 GB per video, and up to 5 videos per message. A video shot on a phone works perfectly well.

How much does an edit cost?

+

Uploading costs 2 credits per started minute, then 1 credit per 2 seconds of final video. Example: a 4-minute raw video (8 credits) edited down to 50 seconds (25 credits) uses 33 credits. You get 60 free credits at sign-up. See pricing.

Can ManyMotion split my long video into several clips?

+

Not automatically: one request produces one edited video. To get several clips from the same footage, make several requests and specify the part or topic to keep each time.

Do I need to install an app?

+

No. Everything happens in the browser, on desktop or mobile. Videos export as Full HD MP4, with a watermark on the free plan.
